Sacraments Baptism Baptism is a significant step in the life of a child. It is the beginning of the journey of faith towards God, who is the source of life. It is a journey in which we grow in a relationship with God. Confirmation While Baptism is the gateway into the Catholic faith, the Sacrament of Confirmation affirms your commitment to your faith and renews your baptismal promises before your First Holy Communion. First Holy Communion Holy Communion, or Eucharist, is the last Sacrament of Initiation and often takes place following the sacrament of Confirmation. The first time you receive Eucharist completes your initiation into the Church. Reconciliation Everyone occasionally does things they regret or perhaps know they shouldn’t have done, and that’s why the Sacrament of Penance is so important. Marriage Catholics believe that God wants to be present with us as we live out our vocation in life, whether that be as a single person, a priest, member of a religious order, or as a married person. Anointing of the Sick If a Catholic is very ill, they or their family may ask a priest to anoint you with oil in a ritual of healing called Anointing of the Sick. The purpose of the sacrament is to strengthen the soul and, if needed, the remission of sins. Holy Orders Every Catholic sacrament requires the presence of an ordained man in one way or another. Catholic priests, deacons and bishops receive their authority through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Support Our Parish Giving is a sign of our love to God and to the community.
